Memory of Russia: The Historical Festival “Sreletskaya sloboda” in the Moscow region

17-18 August 2013 near the settlement Voskresenskoe of the Moscow region is taking place the Historical Festival “Streletskaya Sloboda” which recreates the atmosphere of the XVII century in Russia.

The event is organized by the Russian Military and Historical Society with support of the Ministry of Culture of Russia and the Government of Moscow.

The key event of the festival “Streletskaya Sloboda” will be the reconstruction of one of the episodes of the battle of rebel forces of I. Bolotnikov and the government army of V. Shuisky. More than 700 re-enactors representing the cavalry, infantry and artillery troops, will recreate the significant events in the history of the Russian state battle. The military program will be saturated: during the day on the main stage will be held competitions of various units, a demonstration of historical rifle techniques of combatant skills and tactics maneuver. Participants will live in theme camps: Russian, European and Cossack, representing the marching life of armies.

The Festival guests will be able to learn the skills of handling traditional Russian military weapons: guns, pikes, muskets, to take an active part in folk games and amusements, and try out various crafts. During the event, they watch the re-created with the maximum historical authenticity in the way of life in Streletskaya Sloboda - typical of the XVII century, the settlement of archers, free from duties.
