History of Russia: The exhibition “The Soviet poster of 1930s – 1950s” in Omsk

17 August 2013

From August 15 to September 8, 2013 at the M. A. Vrubel Omsk Regional Museum of Fine Arts is held the exhibition “The Soviet poster of 1930s–1950s from the collection of the Museum exhibition center “ROSIZO”.

The poster of the Soviet Union in 1930-1950s was one of the most effective means of influencing people. Along with newspapers and radio, it affected the mind and mood of the human being, urging him to this or that activity. A good visual image in combination with a short text and slogan reached consciousness faster than newspaper information.

The exhibition “The Soviet poster of 1930s-1950” which is about 50 exhibits from the ROSIZO makes it possible to show the basic way of poster art, to highlight the main themes that the state resonated in certain years.

The poster, among other things, reflected the official view of the role, tasks and duties of the human being in the new socialist society.

Today the soviet poster is no longer a weapon of propaganda. Thematic galleries, exhibitions of posters that let you watch it as a historical source and a work of art are still published in Russia and abroad.
