Museums of Russia: Museum of the History of the Airborne troops in Ryazan to be renovated and developed

During a working visit to Ryazan the specialists of the Culture Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation identified the next development plans and the renovation of the again attached branch of the Central Museum of the Armed Forces of Russia – the Museum of the History of the Airborne Troops. Already this year, its exposition will be expanded and its technical equipment will be replaced.

The Museum of the History of the Airborne Forces is the only one in the world. It was created in 1972. The core of the museum’s collections are unique relics - the banners of airborne divisions and brigades that took part in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, combat medals of paratroopers, archives of commanders, rare military members of peacekeeping documents processes in Abkhazia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, counter-terrorist operations in the North Caucasus. The museum also features rare collections of landing parachutes and literature for combat training of personnel of the Airborne Troops.  

“The development of the military museum case is the most important part of the patriotic education of citizens of Russia. Recently, the full status has been acquired by the collection of military costume in Bahchivandzhi (the Moscow region), the Northern Fleet Air Museum is being reconstructed, it has just been created a new exhibition in the central building of the Central Museum of the Armed Forces”, - said the head of the Culture Ministry of Defence of Russia Anton Gubankov.
