Libraries and society: The Theoretical and Practical Conference “Libraries of the Far Eastern region in terms of cultural and linguistic diversity” in Khabarovsk
The Far Eastern State Research Library with participation of the Russian Library Association holds on October 24-25, 2013 the Interregional Theoretical and Practical Conference “Libraries of the Far Eastern region in terms of cultural and linguistic diversity” in Khabarovsk.
The conference is attended by library specialists from the Khabarovsk Krai, the Sakhalin and Jewish Autonomous regions.
The conference participants will discuss issues related to the organization of libraries to preserve and promote cultural and linguistic diversity of the Far East region, will share their experience of various projects and programs in this area. A particular attention will be paid to the role of libraries in preserving and translating the knowledge of indigenous peoples of the Far East. Plenary lectures will focus on the implementation of the state policy in the field of preservation of languages and cultures of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and Far East of the Russian Federation living in the Khabarovsk Krai, the role of libraries in the development and preservation of traditional knowledge of indigenous peoples in the development of intercultural relations. The conference program includes a practical carrying case study of successful projects and the work of the expert-discussion platform.
