
Memory of the world: Russia and France have started a joint preparation to the 100th anniversary of the World War I
It has started the Russian-French preparation to the 100th anniversary of the World War I.
During the working visit to France the Minister of Culture of Russia Vladimir Medinsky has met with his compatriots and has made a presentation of the project of the monument to Russian soldiers who fell in the World War I, and he discussed issues of the organization of joint Russian –French events, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the largest armed conflicts in the history of the mankind.
During the visit the Minister has held a meeting with the Minister of Culture and Communication Aurélie Filippetti. They discussed issues of preparation activities to the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings, as well as the harmonization of national and international program of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the World War I.
At the residence of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia in France of Alexander Orlov, Vladimir Medinsky met with compatriots, made a presentation of the monument to the Russian soldiers who fell in the World War I.
At the end of the visit the Minister attended a meeting of senior representatives of national organizing committees for the preparation of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the World War I.
