History of Saint-Petersburg: The album-catalogue of photo postcards “Petersburg – Petrograd – Leningrad” published
October 7, 2013 at the Children’s Museum of postcards in St. Petersburg will be held events on the proposal of the Album-catalogue of photo postcards “Petersburg - Petrograd – Leningrad”.
The album-catalogue - is the most complete edition of postcards in St. Petersburg. The publishing project is provided by the publishing house “Garden Art”.
It provides the release of three parts and six volumes of the catalog. At present, are prepared the first four volumes, which show the views of cities of 1895-1917 years. The postcards - the central square, the Nevsky Prospekt and the area of the Alexander Nevsky Monastery, rivers and canals, the Vasilevsky Island, the Petrograd Side, the District Shuvalovo-Ozerki. Genre scenes and city types are also presented.
The album will be a kind of guide through St. Petersburg-Petrograd. Now it is preparing the second part, which brought revolutionary photo cards and military year of 1917, the third part of the project will open Leningrad until 1941.
Each volume publishes images about 1400 cards, with about 200 - in full size. Only in the first part of the publication, devoted to the pre-revolutionary period, you can learn about 5452 city views, published on postcards.
All parts of the publication are revealed with a wonderful text of one of the most prominent Russian historians of today Yevgeny Anisimov.
As part of the presentation of the project tillDecember 14 will be opened the exhibition “Petersburg to Petrograd. The Open Past”.
