International events: Days of Moscow to open the year of Russian Culture in the Great Britain
The Year of Russian Culture in Great Britain will be open by Days of Moscow, as part of the Year it will be held two hundred events, said in an interview with RIA Novosti a special representative of the President of Russia for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi.
“The Year of Russian in Great Britain will start with full-days of Moscow, and we want to show not only the cultural heritage of our capital, but also tell the British about Moscow as the scientific, economic center. The British also submitted a very attractive idea of holding meetings of business representatives of two countries, so we are now thinking about the format”, - said Shvydkoi.
In 2014, reminded Shvydkoi, will be celebrated several important events: the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Lermontov, as well as the 100 years since the beginning of the First World War.
“As part of the year of Culture much attention will be paid to the literature. Britain will be the special guest at the major Russian book fairs; British writers will make tour across Russia. We will also pay our special attention to the language learning”, - said Shvydkoi.
Also, a special envoy of the President of Russia emphasized that the cross-year enables the two countries to demonstrate to each other their most important cultural achievements.
