Memorable dates of Russia: A century of the Discovery of the Nicholas II Land being celebrated in Moscow
October 3, 2013 the Alexander Solzhenitsyn House of the Russian Abroad holds solemn session of the Commission on geography of the polar regions of the Moscow Center of the Russian Geographical Society, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the discovery of the Emperor Nicholas II Land (Severnaya Zemlya).
This discovery, which became the last significant geographical discovery in the world, has been committed by sailors of the Hydrographic Expedition of the Arctic Ocean (GESLO) (1910-1915), which was organized for the purpose of development of the Northern Sea Route. It was part of two icebreaking ship – “Vaygach” and “Taimyr”. Since 1913, an expedition was led by Boris A. Vilkitsky.
The publishing house «Paulsen» together with the N. N. Zubov State Oceanographic Institute will re-release the monograph of a prominent Soviet scientist Nikolai Nikolaevich Zubov “Domestic explorers - explorers of seas and oceans”, first published in 1954 and still remains one of the fundamental researches on the subject.

Voishvillo (1907-1993) from the collection of the Museum of the World Ocean (Kaliningrad), dedicated to the ships and boats that participated in the Arctic expeditions of XVIII-XX centuries, as well as photographs, books, maps of funds of the house of Russian Abroad and private collections.
