Society and culture: New space for contemporary art opened in Moscow
Art Center Exposed, establishing a new approach to the organization of artistic and cultural space, has been opened in Moscow on 14 November 2013. Its idea is to concentrate on one area showroom, design studio, a library, a hall for lectures, talks, and chamber concerts.
“Our goal - to organize a new and original space, wherever under one roof united the art of different categories and completely different cultural backgrounds - said at a press conference by the project, a London businessman and gallery owner Ken Klymi. - I did not plan to create a classic art gallery. I’m curious to create life at the site where creative processes raged”. The two-story space of the art center is divided into several independent zones. They can get acquainted with contemporary paintings, photographs, sculptures of famous and emerging artists, designer furniture pieces. In a makeshift library, anyone can find books on contemporary art.
Moving from one area to another, visitors will enter the “different worlds, learning the art from different points of view”. “The spaces are very well separated. Everything is done in such a way that it is possible to simultaneously carry out activities here of a different nature - said Klymi. - We focus on building in the center of a cozy, homely atmosphere. Visitors will not be separated from the art of various barriers, as it is used to be”.
On the occasion of the opening of the art center organizers have prepared a joint exhibition of works by artists from Argentina and the United Kingdom, photographers from Germany, the USA and England, sculpture Russian and South African artists. Among them are works by British photographer John Kenny specializing in portraits taken on the African continent.
