Society and culture: The Saint-Petersburg Cultural Forum to be devoted to the Year of Culture in Russia

All major areas of artistic creation program will cover the Second St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum, which will be held on December 2-4, 2013. According to the organizing committee of the Forum, its main theme will be the Year of Culture in Russia in 2014, announced by the decree of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

The forum aims to preserve and promote Russian culture and supporting cultural initiatives at the regional, national and international levels, promoting international cooperation in the sphere of culture. Within three days of the meeting will run more than three dozen sites that will host the plenary sessions, “round tables” and seminars. The main discussion will unfold in sections, each of which will bring together professionals of any sphere - of theater, cinema, literature, music, librarians, museums, art education practitioners.

Thus, in the museum section chaired by the Director of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky is planned a congress of the Union of Russian Museums and open discussion “Museum in the modern economic theory and practice. Educate or trade?”. On one of the “round tables” will talk about the traditions and innovations of Russian patronage. Masters of the screen will hold a conference “Cinema as a living relic” and the debut presentation of projects of Alexander Sokurov. It is preparing assembly of contemporary composers “Music today”. A section “Forum. Theatre” will feature Assembly of theaters in Europe. It is expected that the forum will bring together over two thousand professionals.
