Libraries of Russia: Scientific-Practical Conference and unique exhibition “One hundred and one: the language, the people, the culture in the space of the library” in Saint-Petersburg

November 8, 2013 in the new building of the National Library (St. Petersburg) as part of the celebration of the anniversary of the Department of National Literatures will be held the Scientific-practical conference and unique exhibition under the title "One Hundred and One: the language, the people, the culture in the space of the library".

The conference is attended by researchers and practice of librarianship, ethnographers and historians, linguists and local lore specialists, representatives of the publishing and bookselling organizations from Baku, Yekaterinburg, Magadan, Moscow, Riga, St. Petersburg, Khanty -Mansiysk, Yakutsk and other cities.

As part of the conference it will be held the opening of the unique exhibition, which will showcase the most valuable and rare editions, describing people, their identity, language and culture. This volume demonstrates the treasures of collections. This is the most extensive exhibition of the history of the Division, which represents funds of the linguistic diversity - from the endangered languages ​​of the peoples of the North to the official languages ​​of the CIS and Baltic countries.

Visitors will also see scientific works of department specialists, documents and photographs, depicting its history.
