Russian museums: Exhibition “The Museum of Weapons: 140 years of legendary history” in Tula

December 18, 2013 in a new building of the Tula State Museum opened an exhibition of weapons "Armory Museum: 140 years of legendary history". The exposition is based on a photographic and documentary material from its own collections and the museum's archive.

At the exhibition visitors can see the history of discovery and becoming one of the oldest museums in Russia. The documents tell about the difficult period in the history of military museum of weapons. The photos will present work of Moscow artists on creating a new exhibition at Epiphany Cathedral of the Tula Kremlin and illustrate all the stages of the building-helmet: from laying the first stone of the day before the ceremonial commissioning.

Visitors will have the unique opportunity to see the layout of the first book of honorable guests of the museum called "The Book to make the names of the Highest persons and other persons attending the Tula Arms Plant from September 21, 1856". Their autographs in it were left by Emperors Alexander II, Nicholas II, the Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna and many others. After the October Revolution of 1917, when the museum exposition became available for widespread visit, in the guest book appeared funny records: "Proletarian of His Majesty of working people Antizersky".

The exhibition is dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the founding of the Tula State Museum of Weapons, and it shows its great historical significance and confirms the fact that the museum is not only proud of Tula, but the whole Russia.
