
World memory: Exhibition “Albert Camus. Meetings on the bridge” to the 100th anniversary of the writer in Moscow
December 17, 2013 at the M. I. Rudomino Library of Foreign Literature (Moscow) opens the exhibition "Albert Camus. Meetings on the Bridge". The exhibition marks the centennial of the birth of Albert Camus, one of the greatest French writers of the XX century.
The Library of Foreign Literature continues the series of exhibitions "Decoration of classics" - photos by Lyudmila Volkova. Within the project "Landscape of classics" came out exhibitions and photo albums dedicated to the works of Dostoyevsky, Gogol, Goncharov, Brodsky. The exhibition, held in conjunction with the Library of Foreign Literature, was demonstrated in many cities in Russia and Europe. The photos of the series "Albert Camus. Meetings on the Bridge" are made by Camus novel "The Fall".
Pictures do not just illustrate the prose of the writer, but also create a custom image of cities - Paris and Amsterdam, where the literary action of works of classic of French literature is taking place.
Each photo story corresponds to the modern address of the city and is accompanied by a quote from the work. The author's goal is carefully preserving the word writer, with topographic accuracy and strictly following the text, to convey not only the atmosphere of urban neighborhoods of Paris and Amsterdam, but also the atmosphere of the novel itself, to interest the viewer to read it again.
The White Hall demonstrates Camus books stored in the library in French, English, German, Spanish and other languages. The exhibition includes both last updates, published after 2000, and editions of 1940-60s, once again emphasizing the timeless significance of work and life of Albert Camus.
