To the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi: Internet-service ‘second screen” launched
The First Channel and RIA Novosti Group, the national host-agency the Olympic Games "Sochi- 2014", are launching a new mobile service "second screen".
The purpose of the project is to empower the audience of the First Channel to follow sports broadcasts of the white Olympiad in Russia.
As part of the project it is created a special application of the First Channel for mobile devices on the basis of editorial content and RIA Novosti. The application allows text online broadcasts of sporting events with the Sochi Olympics on users' mobile devices. It will complement the live television and via the news, background information and photographs from the competition RIA Novosti will take a fresh look at sports.
Watching broadcasts live on the First Channel, users of the "second screen" without interruption can watch for updates of text reports on their mobile devices. This will allow them to maximize the perception of a sporting event and feel the full range of impressions from the broadcasting. For viewers who cannot intently watching events on TV, "second screen" provides an exclusive option: TV broadcast sound will be duplicated in a mobile application, so the connection with what is happening in the air will not be lost.
The new service will be available to anyone who has Internet access. The user will be notified of the impending start of the live broadcast, in which through the mobile app he can get information on a specific sport.
The reference data to be presented in the "second screen" will expand understanding of the specificity of sport. Users can learn about the features of different sports to understand the causes of the competition rules, look into the history of a particular sports discipline, gather unknown information about athletes, learn the nuances of sports uniforms and equipment and more.
The "Second screen" will be as interactive as possible. First, application users will be able to ask any question to commentators about the competition and get an answer immediately after the broadcast. In addition, everyone will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of surveys that will be offered to developers.
The new service within the proven mobile application of the First Channel will be available to all users on both iOS and Android. To use the "second screen" can be possible even during the First Channel Cup matches involving the Russian national hockey team on December 19-21.
