
The Presidential Library: New acquisitions
To the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Leningrad from the blockade, the Presidential Library section of the collection "Memory of the Great Victory", dedicated to the defense of Leningrad, has been enriched with new documents from the A. S. Pushkin Tambov Regional Universal Scientific Library and private collections.
The materials from the newspaper "Tambov truth" in 1943-1944 (fragments of reports "From the Soviet Information Bureau", Orders of the Supreme Commander to the Front Commander of the Leningrad front, individual notes and articles) allow us to trace the chronology of events in the defense of Leningrad, the break of the blockade and its complete lifting.
The leaflet Citizens of the city of Lenin! in connection with the declaration of martial law in Leningrad and the Leningrad region encourages the people to observe the strictest discipline and order in the rear, to avoid panic and rumors; two leaflets are devoted to the development of individual gardening: Leningraders Comrades! and Every worker of Leningrad must have a vegetable garden.
Representation about daily life of Leningraders is provided in documents related to the normalized distribution and consumption: ration cards, cards for industrial goods passes to the dining room, as well as personal diaries and memoirs.
The materials from the personal archives of Peter Petrovich Kokovashin and Zinaida Antonovna Ryzhkova, spouses, residents of the besieged Leningrad, workers of the woodworking plant contain Fragment of P. P. Kokovashin diary for December 23, 1941, Portrait of P. P. Kokovashin, Z. A. Ryzhkova Diary for 1944 ( started a week before the lifting of the blockade), Portrait of Z. A. Ryzhkova.
In Memoirs of a person of the blockaded city (St. Petersburg, 2013) Valentin Vladimirovich Zvonarev, at the start of the war, a twelve year old boy shares his memories about the most difficult period of his life in the blockaded city - 1941-42.
Video tour The Blockade: A Chronicle of Life (St. Petersburg, 2013) is dedicated to the eponymous exhibition held at the Presidential Library last year. Exhibited at the exhibition documents (diaries, letters from the front, posters, books, movies and photo archive footage) help to understand how the people of Leningrad fought for life and for the victory over the long 900 days.
A paper City of Leningrad completely liberated from the enemy blockade. 27/I-1944 year (L., 1944) is a proof of a postage stamp with a cliché "Leningrad. Liberation from the Nazi blockade" from the series "Hero Cities".
