Society and culture: Unique exhibition “Romantic Russia” from the collection of the Tver Picture Gallery in Murmansk
January 25, 2014 in the Murmansk Regional Museum of Art as part of the opening ceremony of the Year of Culture in the Murmansk region has opened a unique exhibition "Romantic Russia".
The collection of paintings is prepared from the collections of the Tver Art Gallery - one of the oldest in Russia.
Today the Tver collection covers the entire history of Russian art. But the uniqueness of this exhibition is not only in the number of brilliant names: Venetsianov, Kiprensky, Tropinin, Shchedrin, Aivazovsky, assembled in one room - but also in its very conception. It symbolizes the birth of the Russian national art.
"Undress" portraits constitute a fundamental stem this exhibition. On the canvases are not reigning persons, not the favorite courtiers, but people of different classes: artisans, tradesmen, merchants. The pictures consider interesting faces, parts of the costume.
"Romantic Russia" - is not only a wonderful collection of portraits with unforgettable faces, but landscape works, as well as the compositional paintings on religious themes.
