
Memory of the world: Monument to Russian soldiers of the World War I opened in Cannes
January 13, 2014 in the French city Cannes was held a ceremony of donating a monument “Guardian Angel with a palm tree” to French people. The monument immortalized deeds of soldiers and officers of the Russian Expeditionary Corps participated in the World War I on the territory of France. The event was held under the auspice of the Russian Historical Society.
The Russian Military Historical Society also presented an ambitious program to perpetuate the memory of the heroes of the World War I, which is carried by RVIO. The first monument of this program will be a monument in Pskov, which opened in February this year. Later in 2014 will be erected monuments in Kaliningrad, Gusev (Gumbinnen) and other cities. The culmination of the celebrations will be the opening of the memorial monument "Heroes of the World War I" on Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow.
