Peoples of Russia: Unique “Anthology of traditional folklore of the peoples of the Kama region” issued in the Perm region

A unique “Anthology of traditional folklore of the peoples of the Kama region” is issued in the Perm region. As part of the project in 2007-2010 took place a series of scientific expeditions to villages and country sides of the perm region, was held an audio recording of performers and authentic folklore ensembles.

More than 1000 performers from 80 settlements of 18 districts took part in this project. The result was the release of six CDs, each of which presents folklore of the indigenous peoples of the Kama region: Perm-Komi residents, Udmurt peoples, Mari, Tatar, Bashkir and Russians.

The next stage of the project was the work on deciphering texts and translations of folk songs in Russian and English languages.

After three years of the work of scientists, ethnographers, philologists and linguists was published a unique book "Anthology of traditional folklore of the Kama region". Now, songs, tales and legends recorded during expeditions, are collected under one cover. The book is unique in that for the first time the reader can get acquainted with folk poetry in the native language of the performer, as well as in Russian or English translation.
