
The Presidential Library: New acquisitions
The Presidential Library Collection "National Periodicals" has been enriched with materials of literary and art magazine for schoolchildren Bonfire provided by the Pushkin Central City Children's Library (Saint-Petersburg).
The magazine "Bonfire" was founded with the Children's Literature Publishing House of the Komsomol Central Committee and was published from July 1936 to 1947, then after a ten year break the issue was renewed in July 1956.
Throughout the years, the magazine published the works of famous children's writers, poets, translators, writers, literary critics S. Y. Marshak, K. I. Chukovsky, O. F. Bergolts, Y. P. Herman, E. L. Schwartz, L. V. Uspensky, K. G. Paustovsky, E. I. Charushin, V. V. Bianchi, M. M. Zoshchenko, L. Panteleev and others.
In the journal are published literary works, informative articles and essays on art, humorous material, and letters from readers; are held a variety of quizzes and competitions.
Today, at the portal is available 21 issue of "Bonfire" for 1936-1947 years. The presented editions tell of the post-revolutionary country's development in the early XX century, on Lenin's life, about the exploits of soldiers during the Great patriotic War (the memories of the participants), about studying students during the Siege of Leningrad, the help to families and soldiers, support each other in difficult times of war. They are published notes and articles about the pioneering organizations, about the history of the hero-city of Leningrad, about the games and amusements of children.
In addition at the portal is represented a predecessor of the magazine "Bonfire" – a literary and artistic collection for middle-aged and older people Bonfire. Sat 2 (L., 1934). The publication contains articles about the lives of workers and their children before the Revolution, the Civil War, the construction and transformation of the country, about the masters of various specialties (deep-divers, firefighter-topernic), about the adventures; poems about schoolchildren of famous poet S. Y. Marshak are published as well.
