Society and reading: Exhibition-Fair “Book of Russia” in Moscow

March 26-30, 2014 in the All-Russian Exhibition Center (Moscow) is held the 17th National Exhibition-Fair “Books of Russia”. Specialists and the public will be provided an extensive palette of artistic, scientific, documentary, educational, children's publishing - up to 100,000 titles in different languages ​​of the peoples of the Russian Federation.

The priority task and one of the most important features of the National Exhibition-Fair – is the emphasis of the participation of regional and smaller publishing houses. This spring as part of the “Books of Russia” will be held the All-Russian exposition “Publishing programs of Russia regions”. It is formed with the support of the Federation Council, the Council on preservation of natural heritage of the nation, as well as the Association of publishers of Russia.

34 Russian regions are taking part in the first All-Russian exposition, the stands of which form a kind of “National Mall”. The purpose of such representation is interestingly and widely shown in the capital of Russia literature, publishing, and culture of our great country.

Various special exposition of the National exhibition-fair will be dedicated to the Year of Culture of Russia and its significant dates: the 700th anniversary of Sergius of Radonezh, the 450th anniversary of the release of the first Russian printed book. At the forum will be celebrated anniversaries: the 200th anniversary of the birth of M. Y. Lermontov, the 200th anniversary of the birth of T. G> Shevchenko, the 200th anniversary of foreign campaigns of the Russian Army in 1813-14, triumphantly completed the Great Patriotic War of 1812. 

In the Year of Culture the Central exhibitor of the 17th exhibition-fair “Books of Russia” was the Russian State Library, the organizer of the exhibition “The National Library of Russia”: the RSL will perform here in conjunction with other major countries Book Depository – the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library and the National Library of Russia.

The publishing Council of the ROC, publishing house of the Moscow Patriarchate organize a meeting “The Light of the Russian land” and all the days the exhibition will introduce visitors to the books issued to the 700th anniversary of the birth of St. Sergius of Radonezh.


The most important professional event of the forum will be an industry conference “Book Market 2013/2014: Results and Prospects”, prepared by experts of the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications (Rospechat), the Moscow State University of Printing and specialized media: it should reflect the main vectors of the book industry. Hot topics will affect the round table devoted to the problems of regional publishing.

Much attention of specialists will be attracted with round tables “Cross-media platforms and mobile ecosystem in the book market of Russia”, “The new formats and strategies of Moscow bookstores”, conferences “Whether a mandatory copy is mandatory?”. Actual problems of modern library science specialists will discuss presentations on “Modern methods of library collection print and electronic resources under the existing legislation” and “School of Collections. Top ten: top most pressing issues in the practice of FZ-44 in the current staffing of libraries”.
