March 4, 2014 at the State Museum of the Political History of Russia (Saint-Petersburg) opens the exhibition “I came to our country as a guest. German antifascists in the Soviet Union 1933-1956”.
The exhibition, created by German historians, tells of representatives of three generations of German families, whose life has been linked to emigration to the Soviet Union. Family biography, which forms the basis of the exhibition, covers the period from the last years of the Weimar Republic till the returning to the East Germany in the second half of the 50s.
The exhibition features 20 stands, each of which is dedicated to the history of one family. The dramatic events are shown in photographs, drawings, letters and diaries which were kept in families as the memory of the loved ones.
The exhibition is created with the support of the Rosa Luxembourg Foundation.
The exhibition will run till March 4 to April 9.
