Memorable dates of Russia: Exhibition dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the birth of Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky in Moscow
In the department of music publications of the Russian State Library (Moscow) till March 24, 2014 runs the exhibition dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the birth of Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky. The exposition features over 100 documents: claviers, scores, librettos, records, music albums, CDs, book editions. Visitors will be able to see the first edition of “Pictures from the Exhibition”, a thick volume of the score “Boris Godunov” from the collection of Boris Asafiev, to learn the history of the opera by Andrei Tarkovsky and many other.
Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky (1839-1881) - composer, who was far ahead of his time and who made a huge impact on the development of Russian and European art music. The personality of the composer and his creative legacy is still not well understood. A significant part of Mussorgsky's works today not only published, but are not familiar with a wide range of musicians and music lovers. The purpose of the exhibition is to reveal the rich fund of the RSL, where composer’s compositions occupy a worthy place.
