Society and book culture: Exhibition “Book Culture of Rus’” in the Kemerovo region

May 26, 2014 as part of the celebration of the Year of Culture and Tourism in Kuzbas, in the Gurievsk City Local History Museum (the Kemerovo region) took place the opening of the exhibition “Book Culture of Rus’”.

The exhibition features the Old Believer edition, which continued the tradition of Russian literacy, which formed a kind of bright and original book culture.

Unique manuscripts and printed books published in the XVII, XVIII, XIX centuries are shown in the windows of the museum. Goodness and beauty – is visitors’ first impression of the performance.

One of the oldest exhibited books - "The Apostle" (full title of the book "The Acts of the Apostles") - published by the Moscow printing house in 1620. Of no less interest is the miniature edition "Breviary" of the first half of the XVII century. Rich splash of each section, colorful vignettes at the top of pages, letters, initials attract the attention of any visitor, young and old. The exhibition runs until June 30.
