History of Saint-Petersburg: Celebrations to the 311st anniversary of the city foundation

Celebrations to mark the 311th anniversary of the founding of St. Petersburg, May 27, will begin at 10:00 am with the ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to Peter the Great (Bronze Horseman) on the Senate Square. At 11.45 official celebrations will be continued on the Czar Bastion fortress in memorial "Here on May 27, 1703 is laid the first bastion of the fortress, named in honor of Peter I. From that moment began the construction of the city". As part of the event it will be laid flowers at the tombs of Peter I at the Peter and Paul Cathedral. The ceremony will be held with the participation of members of the Government of St. Petersburg, members of the Public Chamber and the public councils under the heads of district administrations of St. Petersburg, members of the Youth Board and members of the public of the city.

One of the main gifts to the residents of St. Petersburg on this day will be the project "Theatre for all". From 10.00 to 18.00 everyone by appointment will be free to visit city theaters and participate in special programs: visit the backstage tour, learn about the workshops, learn the history of the theater, to see the exhibition of costumes and visit the interactive programs. For example, the Youth Theatre on Fontanka will perform in Izmailovo Garden an interactive historical zone "(Un) famous past of the Izmailovo Park" and the Mikhailovsky theater invites for tours. In the theater "Zazerkalie" will be possible to visit open rehearsals of young directors - students of artistic director of the theatre, Professor A. V. Petrov.
