The Yaroslavl Historical-Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve on May 16, 2014 opens the exhibition “Faces “Words”.

The exhibition features works be famous graphic artists and book illustrator, Honored Artists of Russia, member of the International Association of Art Critics Yuri Lyukshin on the theme of the monument of Old-Russian literature of the end of the XII century – “The Tale of Igor’s Campaign”.

“The Tale” – is a reflection on the campaign, a poetic about Russian history and modernity, the call to Russian princes to be united and to protect Russian land. Immensely talented and original artist Yuri Lyuskshin created a series of illustrations to the “Tale of Igor’s Campaign”, which impresses with its versatility and emotional intensity. The exhibition features 22 works of artists.

The exhibition “Faces “Words” introduces viewers with unique works of modern book publishing – the book “Tale of Igor’s Campaign”, released in the publishing house “Rare Book from Saint-Petersburg”. Yuri Lyukshin created illustrations – 19 engravings – to this book. They are implemented in the technique of etching with aquatint, richly illuminated by watercolor. The publishing house “Rare Book from Saint-Petersburg” creates author books in several copies, uses hand-made paper, and the illustrations in the book are painted by hand. The book “Tale of Igor’s Campaign” is published in 30 copies, each of which is numbered. The copy number 1 is stored at the State Hermitage Museum. One of unique copies of this book will be the exhibit of the exhibition “Faces “Words”.
