
Society and culture: New projects of the Peterhof Museum-Reserve in summer season
May 13, 2014, in the Information agency “Interfax North-West” took place the press-conference dedicated to perspectives of development of the Peterhof Museum-Reserve in the coming summer seasons. It was attended by leaders of the museum.
The participants told journalists about the upcoming Solemn ceremony of the opening of summer season, which will take place on May 17 in the Lower Park of the Peterhof Museum. This year the organizers prepared a parade of military bands. Also, on May 17, in the Upper Garden, will be held a photo exhibition “Transformation of light” to the 80th anniversary of the enterprise “Lensvet”.
Two new museum will be open in this summer season: the Museum of Courier Service in the park “Alexandria” and the historical and cultural project “Royal fun” in one of the buildings of the former lady’s in waiting homes. The museum is also preparing to establish a branch of the famous house of the merchant Aseeva in Tambov. According to museum director Helena Kalnitskaya, there is planned to break the fountain park, a sort of “provincial Peterhof”.
Another significant event will be on May 31. On this day will be celebrated the 300th anniversary of Mon Plaisir, the favorite palace of Peter I. Specially for this date the Peterhof State Museum-Reserve together with students of the Saint-Petersburg State University of Film and Television will prepare a unique film about how the palace comes alive after winter.
