International events: Exhibition “Moscow – Paris. From the history of French - Russian families in Moscow for 250 years” in the capital

At the State Museum – the N. A. Ostrovsky Humanitarian Center “Overcoming” (Moscow) until May 31, 2014 is held the exhibition “Moscow – Paris. From the history of the French – Russian families in Moscow for 250 years”.

The exhibition contains unique materials from personal archives of French families, living in Moscow. Many of them proudly bear today French names of their ancestors.

There were many events in the history of two countries, influencing on the migration of the French to Russia. It was initiated by Peter I, attracting specialists to Russia of various areas. Especially has been increased an interest in the business and cultural relations with France during the reign of Catherine II. You cannot ignore the events in France in certain periods of its history - religious wars, the French Revolution in 1789, influenced by French families moving to Russia. Among the guests were aristocrats and members of other classes. All this can be found by getting acquainted with the family history, which the current exhibition is told about.
