Memorable dates of Russia: Events to the 100nd anniversary of Y. V. Andropov in Birobidzhan

June 11, 2014 in the Birobidzhan regional Center of Access to the Information Resources of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library took place another meeting with representatives of Russia's security, which was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Soviet state and political figure Y. V. Andropov.

At the meeting were demonstrated archival materials, photos, newsreel documentary about the events of those times. Particular attention was paid to the activities of Yuri Andropov as head of the State Security Committee.

At the book fair revealing different aspects of a prominent Soviet politician were exhibited books and articles from periodicals from the collection of the Sholom-Aleichem Birobidzhan Regional Universal Scientific Library. Also guests of the event were introduced to the most important source of information about the history of our country - the portal of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library. The electronic collection of the Presidential Library holds a digital copy of the essay of Y. Adropov "Karel-Finnish Komsomol people in the Patriotic War" (1943). The essay is dedicated to the guerrilla movement on the Karelian Front, one of the organizers of which was Andropov. The original edition is stored in the St. Petersburg State University.
