Exhibitions: The first exhibition of the project “Caravan of Antiquities-2014: maps and plans” in Feodosia

July 4, in the hall of ancient and medieval archeology of the Feodosian Antiquities Museum took place a presentation of the exhibition project "Caravan of Antiques-2014: maps and plans". The presentation of the project welcomed historians, architects, historians, museum specialists and visitors of the Feodosia Museums and guests of the Crimean Ethnographic Museum (Simferopol).

The first exhibition of the project is devoted to one of the most famous landmarks of Feodosia - tower of St. Constantine, a medieval fortress of Genoese Kaffa - Turkish Kef. The central exhibit - a unique "Plan of an ancient fortress in Feodosia with indicating Genoese and Turkish constructions of Werke suspected of the latter to be dismantled to perfect their dilapidation, threatening destruction. Removed from nature by architect Nich. Feodosia, August 21, 1872" collections of the Feodosia Antiquities Museum. This exhibit, in the past, was referred to Feodosia Antiquities Museum (then - Feodosia Local History Museum) from the Odessa State Historical Museum by the exchange program.

On the plan is presented a plan of the tower of St. Constantine and the adjacent Turkish fortifications as of 1872. Including the parts of the fortifications (on the plan are marked in red and the letter "A"), which were later dismantled due to the dilapidated buildings. Original plan for 1872 is illustrated by copies of photographs of late XIX - early XXI centuries, antique prints and watercolors, giving an idea of the shape and sound towers and fortifications of Constantine "Turkish bastion" at different times.

The first exhibition of the project "Caravan of Antiques-2014: maps and plans" - "Tower of St. Constantine - a symbol of the city…" will be on display from 4 to 11 July 2014.
