Memory of Russia and the world: Events dedicated to the centennial of the First World War took place in Hungary

June 27-28 in the city of Pecs (Hungary) with participation of the Pecs Russian Center took place solemn events dedicated to the centennial of the First World War. 

June 27 opened the exhibition entitled “The First World War in photographs and documents found in military suitcase of a soldier”, where are presented the certificates issued in Russian. After the opening of the exhibition his speech delivered professor Molnar D. Tamas, telling of the military hospitals and achievements of the medicine during the First World War.  According to the speaker, the First World War was a war of the people who were fighting with themselves, and the reasons for its unleashing currently difficult to explain to children and grandchildren, it is difficult to explain to them why the war went on to die people of various nationalities: Serbs, Croats, Hungarians, Germans, Russian and other peoples. He spoke about new methods and areas of science, which got its recognition in the war, including neurosurgery and clinical microbiology, as well as on the development of thoracic surgery.

June 28 at Pecs cemetery were laid flowers to the memorial of the First World War. Here are buried 1 701 soldiers of eleven nationalities, including Hungarians, Germans, Serbs, Croats, Russian, Poles, Albanians, Bosnians, Slovaks, Romanians, Italians and Austrians. This is due t the fact that in Pecs during the First World War were located several hospitals where representatives of different nations were treated.
