Russian culture abroad: Exhibition, dedicated to the 700th anniversary of the St. Sergius of Radonezh, in Washington

The exhibition dedicated to the 700th anniversary of the birth of one of the most revered Orthodox Saints Sergius of Radonezh, runs from 1 to 8 August 2014 in the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Washington.

The exposition features several dozens of photographs of rare icons of the Saint, images of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, as well as pictures taken during official celebrations on the occasion of the Orthodox feast in the Sergiev Posad.

According to the director of the RCSC in Washington Yury Zaitsev, the 700th anniversary of the birth of St. Sergius of Radonezh - is one of the most important events of the year. "We, on our side, could not ignore it, so we decided to organize an exhibition of photographs that will be displayed in a slide show and tell our visitors about the life and legacy of St. Sergius of Radonezh", - he said.

By the example of his life, courage, tolerance and kindness the Saint helped to strengthen and unite the state. His selfless work today is a landmark of a high conservation of cultural and moral values, stressed the director of the RCSC.
