World History: "World War I: the Moments of the Great War" exhibition in Petrozavodsk
The opening of "World War I: the Moments of the Great War" exhibition took place on September 18, 2014, at the National Museum of the Republic of Karelia (Petrozavodsk). The exhibition is dedicated to celebrating this year the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the First World War.
The exhibition "World War I: the Moments of the Great War" is a narrative about the events of 1914-1918 yeas period in all their diversity of their occurrence. The exhibition tells about the Petrozavodsk residents - the partakers of the war and the life of the rear city of Petrozavodsk and Olonetsk province, the construction of the Murmansk railroad and investigates why the World War I have not become for Russia the Second Patriotic War.
The photographs, weapons, military awards, the original items of the soldier arming and the models of military equipment of the First World War years could be seen at the exhibition. The core of exposition is build of collection of the National Museum of the Republic of Karelia. The objects and the documents provided by "The Flight" museum and exhibition complex and by the famous Petrozavodsk collector of N. S. Egorov essentially complement the exposition.
National Museum of the Republic of Karelia is planning a lot of work around the exhibition, which is of interest to local historians, students, teachers, and anyone interested in military history, the history of Russia and Karelia.
The exhibition will run until November 20.
