World history: The new permanent exposition dedicated to the First World War Centenary opens in the Museum of Artillery in Saint-Petersburg

The Military-Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineer and Signal Corps (St. Petersburg) on September 1, 2014 opens a new permanent exhibition dedicated to the First World War.

Exposition has been enriched due to the new exhibits from the museum, never exhibited before. In addition to the previously presented models of weapons, ammunition, uniforms, etc. it was added about 300 items, most of which - true things of the First World War, and only a small part - a copy kept in the museum of rare photographs and watercolors exhibition which requires compliance with certain conditions.

A new exposition gives the opportunity to see the main stages of the war, military training and traditions of the Russian army before its start.

Submitted samples show the development of weapons of artillery and small arms, as well as the remedies, introduce with outstanding designers of domestic weapons.

In the hall are presented original portraits of Knights of St. George, made by the participants of a special military unit art, working at the forefront in order to create works of art, to some extent reflects the events of the First World War 1914-1918.

The museum also hosts the International St. Petersburg XI Cultural History Forum, which brings together more than 80 of the compatriots living abroad.

During the forum at the museum it will be held lectures and round tables, historical military camps of the Russian Imperial Army and the army of Imperial Germany, as well as military-historical reconstruction, dedicated to the First World War.
