Memory of Russia: The exhibition, timed to the birthday of Mikhail Kalashnikov, in Izhevsk
October 28, 2014 in the M. T. Kalashnikov Museum and Exhibition Complex of Small Arms (Izhevsk) presents the exhibition "AK-74", prepared for the birthday of Mikhail T. Kalashnikov and the 40th anniversary of adopting the famous AK-complex machines 74 and RPK-74 machine guns.
The exhibition tells of the history of creation of the automated complex under reduced cartridge.
In 1966, the Main Artillery Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation issued a task to develop a new 5.6 mm (hereinafter 5.45 mm) machine. New exhibition tells about the participants of this competition from Izhevsk, Kovrov, Klimovsk, Tula and presents experimental development of M. T. Kalashnikov, Yu. K. Alexandrov, E. F. Dragunov and E. A. Popovic and others.
