Information technology and museums: The renovated building of the Mordovia Museum of Fine Arts is provided with modern computer equipment

October 24, 2014 is held the opening ceremony after the reconstruction of the S. D. Erzia Mordovia Republican Museum of Fine Arts (Saransk). Much attention in the course of the reconstruction has been given the level of equipment of the museum.

The renovated museum will be widely used with the modern computer equipment, as well as information technology, contributing to a better understanding of the visitor of fine art and cultural heritage, not only to get acquainted with the exposition, but with exhibits that are not available at the moment for the viewer's eye, and even with collections of museums in the world. The use of these funds will expand the information space of the museum exhibition.

The museum has launched a free wireless network Wi-Fi, the network coverage of which covers all the exhibition halls, as well as the Art Café. Each visitor can gain access to a worldwide "web" with their own mobile device, including an internet site of the museum.

It is implementing a system of QR-codes, which contains information about the scripts presented at exhibitions. Sound covers with directional sound in the hall of arts and crafts will help the viewer to get local information.

For the convenience of visitors to the museum space was installed information systems based on touch-screen kiosks. With their help, guests can take a virtual tour of the entire exhibition halls, browse the electronic catalog of works from the museum's collection, see the works of artists of the edge and learn more about the artists themselves. Kiosks informants contain useful information about temporary exhibitions, the public and private rooms, the museum's activities and services. The museum has a new area - cinema. There will be shown themed documentaries, as well as movies in 3D.

The "Virtual Branch of the State Russian Museum" and a Resource Center, which is a new step in the modern educational activities of the museum started their work. All this will significantly increase an interest in the museum of the audience, especially the youth audience.

By the day of its opening after the renovation the S. D. Erzia Museum has prepared an exhibition "Russian Renaissance" (from the collection of the State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg), which represents 29 paintings of famous masters of era and 5 sculptures by the famous sculptor S. D. Erzia.
