The Museum of the World Ocean (Kaliningrad) opened the exhibition ""Krasin" in the history of Russian icebreaking fleet" dedicated to the 10th anniversary of joining the ship in a historic flotilla of the museum. The exhibition will be a great opportunity to touch the living history - the legendary character of the northern capital - the icebreaker "Krasin". An interesting fact is that the "Krasin" is the world's only icebreaker museum afloat. Represented exhibits acquaint with the fate of the ship, which was built in England, but has become a true Russian. It began service in 1916 under the name "Svyatogor", and after the Revolution was renamed the "Krasin". In 1928 it shot "finest hour" of the ship, which took part in the largest-scale rescue operations at sea - it is the "Krasin" obliged to rescue the expedition of Umberto Nobel. Returning from the North Pole, the airship of the Italians crashed. Of the 16 ships that came to the shores of the Arctic to save them, to polar explorers reached only the Soviet icebreaker. Its heroic breakthrough in ice greatly increased the prestige of the young Soviet republic and was the beginning of the active development of the Northern Sea Route of the country of the Soviets.

Also the icebreaker "Krasin", which was part of the Arctic convoy PQ-15, is currently the only surviving vessel participating in the naval battles of the World War II. In addition, all icebreakers like "Krasin" by image and alikeness were built in America.

History of icebreaker is a history of Russian icebreaker fleet. And this also is explained at the exhibition. Commemorative badges, postcards, envelopes with the image of the famous ice-breaking ships, footage video footage and interesting information about icebreakers - all this will help each visitor to "read" the page of a unique book, which tells about the development of the distant White Continent.
