Memory of Russia: The exhibition “The ascetic virtues…” dedicated to the 700th anniversary of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Tula

The Tula Regional Museum hosted the exhibition "Ascetic virtues…" dedicated to the 700th anniversary of the birth of St. Sergius of Radonezh.

In the Hall of Culture of the Regional Museum are presented items of iconography of the XVII-XIX centuries, small plastic, gold embroidery, the rare book associated with the image of "abbot of the Russian land". The first part of the exhibition consists of five differing icons, reveals one of the most famous iconographic themes - the phenomenon of the Blessed Virgin Mary St. Sergius of Radonezh. The second part of the exhibition tells the story of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, and one of the most revered shrines of Russian influence on the spiritual traditions of the region and Russia as a whole. The exhibits are provided by funds of the Tula Museum Association.

The exhibition will run until November 25, 2014.
