History of Russia: Exhibition, dedicated to the memory of ordinary participants of the First World War, opened in Kolomenskoe

The exhibition project dedicated to the First World War Centenary was opened in the Church of St. George in the Ascension square in Kolomenskoe (Moscow).

The title of the exhibition includes the prayer before the battle: "I GLADLY GO TO PERFORM THE HOLY Will and TO PUT LIFE FOR THE TSAR AND FATHERLAND".

The exhibition dedicated to the memory of the rank and file military events at the front and in the rear during the First World War - the peasants Moscow district - presents new, unknown artifacts: letters, photographs, things.

During the war years the Moscow Military District and the Moscow Province, including in it, were the main suppliers of resources for front - of people, ammunition, military equipment, food, forage cargo.

During the war in Russia have been mobilized 15 million people, where the major part was the peasant population.

The exhibition features items for 1900-1910s from the museum and family archives.

Topic of sections of the exhibition was identified due to available material: Military Service and the participation in the battles on the Western Front, the Northern Front and the Baltic Fleet, the Front, the wounded, prisoners of war.

The venue was not chosen by chance - the Church of St. George until 1920s was the parish church of the peasants of the village and other villages of Kolomenskoe of the Nagatinsky parish of the Moscow district.

The exhibition runs until February 25, 2014.
