History and culture: The exhibition of works of Anatoly Granin opened at the Russian Museum of Photograph in Nizhny Novgorod
November 12 in Nizhny Novgorod at the Russian Museum of Photograph opened a full-size retrospective photo exhibition “Anatoly Granin. The Soviet Union”. The exposition first located in the hall of the museum and will be open to visitors until December 12.
More than 200 unique works of the legendary Soviet photograph will form the basis of the exhibition. In addition, visitors will see a slide-show of thousands of Garanin pictures and video with archival photo and cinema materials of the life of Soviet Russia.
Time and images of Soviet Russia, captured in pictures of Anatoly Garanin, are divided into the exhibition space by 14 thematic sections similar to the headings of the illustrated magazine "Soviet Union". Photographer long collaborated with the magazine, was released in 19 languages of the world. His lens fixed the fragments of life of the Soviet country for the Western reader.
Stories of photographs of Garanin, as his personal history, being one of 14 topics of the exposition, is inscribed into the chronology of the life of the USSR: from the life of Soviet collective farms through front illustrations – to the post-war life, the great constructions, and further – bohemian Moscow, the Taganka Theatre, the roads of the world.
Visitors will be able to evaluate not only the historical accuracy of the proposed them to the chronicle of Anatoly Garanin, covered more than 60 years of life in Soviet Russia, but also the highest technical skill of his works, aphoristic style and artistry.
