History and culture: The exhibition, dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the Charter of the Academy of Arts, in Saint-Petersburg

From 12 to 30 November 2014 in the Blue Hall of the Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Fine Arts (St. Petersburg) takes place an exhibition from the collections of the Museum and Library of the Russian Academy of Fine Arts, devoted to the 250th anniversary of the Charter of the Academy of Arts.

The exhibition features paintings, sculptures, engravings, manuscripts, books, items of decorative and applied art. In addition to the original Charter of 1764, personally signed by Catherine II, and the original case, in which it is stored, are displayed portraits of the young Empress, Grand Duke Paul Petrovich, his tutor Count N. I. Panin, President of the Academy I. I. Betsky, as well as K. G. Razumovsky, P. A Rumyantsev, A. V. Olsufiev, G. G. Orlov, I. G. Chernyshev; award medal for the inauguration of the Academy of Arts in 1765 P. P. Werner.

Out of print media in the exhibition is included a printed copy of the Charter of the French and Russian languages, sending to the European Academy of Arts, and the preaching of Plato, which he said during the inauguration of the Academy on July 7, 1765, which almost immediately has become a bibliographic rarity.
