
Russian regions: The exhibition “Russia and Crimea: our strength is in unity” in Simferopol
The Central Museum of Taurida (Simferopol) hosts the exhibition project “Russia and Crimea. Our strength is in unity”, prepared by the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia (Moscow). The exhibition first features unique items from the collection – lithographs of the middle XIX century, materials of the Crimean War, illustrated the main events of battlefield; the revolutionary events in 1905, 1917 and the participation of Crimea residents in the First World War and the Civil War.
A separate section of the exhibition is dedicated to the role of Crimea in the great Patriotic War. Duffel complexes of soldiers who fought for the liberation of the Crimea, the battle painting, flags and pennants with warships, awards the defense of Sevastopol and the Crimea, the German invaders are presented.
Museum items, telling of the development of the economics in the postwar period, are exhibited. The development of tourism and spa vacation in Crimea is presented in many materials, where it is also told about the development of children vacation area and materials of the famous pioneer camp “Artek”.
The exhibition also features original photographs about meeting in Crimea of the leader of the USSR with leaders of Western countries, created by personal photographer of General Secretary L. I. Brezhnev, V. Musaelyan.
The exhibition also features applications of Crimea citizens to the Supreme Court of Russia on the Russian citizenship along with the citizenship of Crimea, as well as materials relating to the activity of the elected in 1994 President of Crimea Y. A. Meshkov.
The Russian fleet was in Sevastopol and it was assigned the status of the main base of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. The exposition places a complex of materials of Rear Admiral of the Black Sea Fleet A. A. Penkin.
The exposition is ended with the current stage of relations of Crimea and the Russian Federation, the holding of a referendum and the inclusion to Russia as two subjects of the Federation.
The exhibition runs until January 15, 2015.
