Information technology and society: Issues of broadband Internet access discussed at the International exhibition ITU Telecom World 2014 in Qatar

The Minister of Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation Nikolai Nikiforov participated in the International exhibition ITU Telecom World 2014, which took place under the auspices of the International Telecommunication Union in Qatar. The head of the Ministry of Communications of Russia delivered speech at the summit of leaders as part of the panel discussion dedicated to the development of a broadband Internet access. The minister also visited the exposition ITU Telecom World 2014.

During his speech Nikolai Nikiforov noted that our country actively develops the communication infrastructure. “Currently Russia currently leads the largest construction of fiber networks on the planet: a plan for laying 200 thousand high-speed communication channels, and the first works have already begun…The goal is to ensure that by 2018, 97% of citizens of the possibility of broadband Internet access", - said the head of the Ministry of Communications of Russia.

Russia comprehensively solves the problem of ensuring the country with the communication, said Nikolai Nikiforov. A significant part of efforts is aimed at the normative-legal sphere of the ministry activity.
