Exhibitions: Collected Christmas cards presented in Saint-Petersburg

The exhibition "Congratulations" opens on December 13, 2014 at the Museum "Nevskaya Zastava" (St. Petersburg). The exhibition presents the pre-revolutionary and Soviet postcards, Christmas toys from the unique collection of the Museum "Old New Year", several private collections and museum collections "Nevskaya Zastava". 

The collection of the Museum "Old New Year" presents to all comers amazing exhibits. These are cards of pre-revolutionary times, yet filled with luxury and beauty, often include the technique of photomontage; New Year greetings of 1920-1930; works of heyday of printmaking from the 1950s to the early 1970s. They are accompanied with the graphic works of cotton and glass Christmas balls, garlands, and much more.

An important unit of the exhibition is a showcase of the Great Patriotic War, representing the New Year greetings of those heavy years. On the one hand, it is unusual graphic works with their stories and features, on the other - is evidence of human relations and hope to each New Year. Christmas decorations complement showcase the same time.

The exhibition "Congratulations" opens at the end of the competition of the same name, aims to collect Christmas cards for orphans of St. Petersburg branch of the organization and wards "Old age is a joy". These works can be seen at the museum from 13 to 24 December.
