2015 Year of Russian literature: Over 300 people will read Valentin Rasputin's "Farewell to Matyora" for future video book

"Farewell to Matyora" video book based on a novel by Valentin Rasputin is now in production in the Irkutsk Region, according to the press service of the regional government.

Dedicated to the Year of Literature "The Folks Readings" project was launched by Irkutsk Academic Drama Theater named after N. P. Okhlopkov in early October 2014 and will be implemented in mid-March 2015, at the writer’s birthday" - said in a memo.

About 700 applicants who want to join the project have already submitted their requests into the theater, among selected are over than 300 people. They are mainly the nonprofessional elocutionists.

"The main criterion for selection is not a dramatic reading or acting skills, but an individual’s understanding of the essence of this piece, his sympathy and empathy" - concluded at the text release.

The geography of participants of the project is very extensive. "The subject was so interesting and demanded that the applications had been sent from Moscow, Crimea, Pskov, and even Mexico. However, the majority of participants are the local residents of the Irkutsk Region, V. Rasputin’s fellow countrymen," - says in the overview.

Reading the excerpts from "Farewell to Matyora" on camera is scheduled for the late January. Readings will be held in the cities of Irkutsk, Bratsk, Sayansk, Taishet, Tulun and Ust-Ilimsk, Kirensk, Usolie-Cheremhovo, Sibirskoye, Nizhneudinsk, in the northern village of Erbogachen, as well as at the writer’s hometown in Ust-Udinsk area.

In the future, these records will be mounted in Videobook. "Farewell to Matyora" will be distributed online - on Drama website, at the social networks and YouTube video hosting.
