Exhibitions: Marc Chagall. Bible” in Orenburg

For the first time in Orenburg, in the Regional Museum of Fine Arts takes place an exhibition of prominent representatives of the artistic avant-garde of the XX century Marc Chagall (1887-1985) - "Marc Chagall. Bible".

The illustrations of the Bible the artist began to create in the 30s and ended after World War II. The work was extremely difficult and physically demanding deep spiritual concentration from the author. Specifically to create this series of works Chagall mastered the technique of colored lithographs. After many years of hard work the Bible series saw light, and Chagall vision of the Bible was truly unique.

The exhibition features 40 lithographs illustrating the Bible and 12 lithographs from the series "Windows of Jerusalem", which are sketches of stained glass at the Medical Center in Jerusalem. The works are presented by private collectors from Europe.

The works are accompanied by texts describing each individual plot, which allows not only gaining new experiences and emotions, but also learning a lot about the artist and his perception of Scripture. Visitors are given a unique opportunity to immerse them in the extraordinary world created by bright multi-colored lithographs and supplemented finely selected music.

Provided by the St. Petersburg Art Center the exhibition "Marc Chagall. Bible" will run until the end of January 2015.
