Russian museums: The State Russian Museum opens reconstructed halls of the Mikhailovky Palace
The State Russian Museum (Saint-Petersburg) on February 17, 2015 opens a new exposition in reconstructed halls of the Mikhailovky Palace.
After the fundamental restoration are opened 11 renovated halls. During repairs specialists restored interiors and held reconstruction of utilities.
The exposition, set up in these halls, includes works by F. A. Vasiliev, V. V. Vereshchagin, N. N. Ge, K. M. Makovsky, V. G. Perov, A. K. Savrasov, G. I. Semiradsky, P. P. Chistyakov, K. D. Flavitsky, I. I. Shishkin and other masters of Russian painting, sculpture and samples of the second half of the XIX century.
The halls are equipped with adjustable system of lighting. Because of this are provided the best exposure conditions of paintings, which allow seeing anew the familiar paintings, many of which have been restored.
Also during the year and a half it has been made a restoration of the halls, including painting, ceiling, parquet floors, and other items of furniture in the historic former chambers of the Grand Duke Mikhail Pavlovich.
The exposition of the domestic art of the second half of the XIX century is conceptually updated. It included paintings, which were previously in storage or display in other rooms. Among them - the little-known scenic sketches of I. I. Shishkin and work M. K. Bashkirtseva, paintings of the famous battle painter Vasily Vereshchagin from "Russian series", as well as genre works of K. M. Makovsky and landscapes of A. K. Savrasov.
The exposition will be open for visitors on February 19.
