
History of Russia: The exhibition “Without flattery betrayed: A. A. Arakcheev” in Novgorod
February 4, 2015 in the exhibition hall of the Youth Library “Read-city” (Veliky Novgorod) is opening the exhibition “Without flattery betrayed: A. A. Arakcheev”, presented by the Petersburg Museum of Political History of Russia.
In the name there is the motto of the ducal coat of arms, with the name of which the whole era in political history of Russia of the first quarter o the XIX century is associated. New exhibition of the Museum of Political History of Russia from a series of exhibitions-biographies is devoted to his life and state activity.
The personality of Count Alexei Arakcheev is represented in photographs, documents, objects of fine art from the collections of the Museum of Political History of Russia, the State Historical Museum (Moscow) and the Military Historical Museum of Artillery, rocket and Signal Corps (St. Petersburg). An important place is his reports and personal letters, telling about the general relationship with Paul I, Alexander I, with prominent statesmen and military leaders - M. M. Speransky, P. I. Melissino, S. K. Vyazmitinov, F. V. Rostopchin and others. A part of the exhibition is devoted to personal estate of Arakcheeva in Gruzino. Of particular interest are the materials of military settlements. First are exhibited statistical atlas counties of the Novgorod military settlements, maps of military settlements and districts of arable soldiers of the Starorussky County.
The exhibition will run until February 26.
