
History and Culture: "The Resistance and the Strength of the "Fragile" Ones. Women in the History of Tsaritsyn-Stalingrad" exhibition in Volgograd
An exhibition entitled "The Resistance and the Strength of the "Fragile" Ones. Women in the History of Tsaritsyn-Stalingrad" opened on the eve of International Women's Day of March 4, 2015, with the support of the Volgograd Regional Branch of the Russian Military-Historical Society, in the Memorial and Historical Museum in Volgograd.
The creators of the exhibition set to themselves a goal to reveal the role of women in the political, socio-economic and cultural life of Tsaritsyn-Stalingrad, and to show how women socio-historical portrait was formed under the influence of changing socio-political situation of the first half of the XX century.
The exposition gives an idea about the activities of women in different spheres of life at the beginning of the XX century and the first decades of Soviet power, tell about the participation of women in the Civil War and World War II, about their military and labor feats.
Visitors will be able to see the documents, photographs, personal belongings, awards, medical instruments, and letters from the front belonging to the doctors and the nurses of the First World and the Civil Wars, as well as to women-participants of the Great Patriotic War.
A separate section of the exhibition is dedicated to women's participation in the reconstruction of the ruined by the war city economy and to the development of "cherkasovsky movement."
Along with pieces from the collections of the Battle of Stalingrad Museum displayed are the exhibits from the Old Sarepta Museum, Regional Museum and from the Red October Factory Museum and the Volgograd Region Museum of the History of Health.
The exhibition will run until July 2015.
