The Year of Literature in Russia 2015: Exhibition “Let’s read the classics again…” in Novgorod the Great

May 25, 2015, the sector of rare books of the Scientific Library, Novgorod State University presented a new exhibition "Let’s read the classics again...” dedicated to the works of Russian writers, the anniversary of which is celebrated the Year of Literature.

This year marks the 215th anniversary of birth of Yevgeny Baratynsky, the 180th birthday anniversary of Nicholas Pomyalovsky, 160th birthday anniversary of Vsevolod Garshin, and 160th birthday anniversary of historian, literary critic, editor and bibliographer Sergei Vengerov.

The exhibition highlights publications of different years of the 19th - early 20th centuries. For example, the collected works of Vsevolod Garshin from the library of the Novgorod female teachers' seminary; a collection of poems by Yevgeny Baratynsky, published in March 1945; books with bookplates of former owners, as well as literature about the life and work of the authors - a total of 32 editions.
