The Year of Literature in Russia-2015: The exhibition of the life and work of Alexander Tvardovsky in Abakan

The universal reading room of the N. G. Domozhakov National Library (Abakan, Khakassia) exhibited a book exhibition from the series "Literary Calendar dates", dedicated to the life and work of the writer and poet Alexander Tvardovsky.

This year several significant dates of life and literary work of Alexander Tvardovsky were agreed: 105 years since the birth, 70 years of the completion of his famous poem "Vasily Terkin", 55 years of the release of the poem "Far distance". 

The writer experienced a difficult and violent years - the revolution, collectivization, repressions. He participated in the liberation of Western Belarus, in the Finnish campaign. During the Russo-Finnish War Tvardowski wrote prose - articles, essays, short stories, reviews. By this time is related the creation of a character of Wasi Terkin feuilleton in the newspaper "Defending the Motherland".

 In 1941, the Great Patriotic War started, and Tvardowski decided to return to this image. He gave his hero of the same name, but it was already another Terkin not just a joker and merry as it seems at first glance. It generalized in the form of one man national character, and because it has become a favorite hero in the dugout and the front dugout at rest and the medical battalion, in the factory and in the field.

The poem has become truly popular, and Vasily Terkin – a folklore character. The heads of the poem knew by heart almost all the fighters and commanders. The book received the recognition (State Prize, 1946), and appreciation of his contemporaries. 

The exhibition features poems, poetry, and prose of the writer.

The book exhibition is exhibited until July 15.
